Detailed description
everyday for 115 continuous school days (or 22 weeks) to 100 undernourished and indigent Grade 1 pupils at F. Benitez Elementary School Main & III (50 pupils per school), located in barangays Sta Cruz & Singkamas, Makati City. Undernourished pupils are those who are 5 lbs or more below normal weight per Department of Health standards. Indigent pupils are those from families identified by the school and the Rotary Community Corps as needing assistance.
The target is increased weight to normal/near normal levels, and reductions in iron deficiency and protein energy malnutrition. Academically, the target are improved school attendance (80% drop in absenteeism) reduced dropout rate (80%) and improved grades. Health appraisals are done bi-monthly at school level by school nurse. Academic appraisals are done quarterly by the teachers.
