Detailed description
Imagine living where medical care is a luxury, and families lack access to healthcare and education. This was reality for Stateless Vietnamese refugees in Kampong Chhnang and Kampong Luong until the EClub of Greater Sydney intervened. Partnering with the Vietnamese community in Australia, the club launched a life-changing medical mission. Responding to a plea from a Catholic Nun, 32 volunteers from Australia, Cambodia, and Vietnam journeyed to rural Cambodia in January. In Kampong Chhnang, an isolated area, volunteers provided free medical care to 300 relocated families. In Kampong Luong, 1,000 impoverished families received much-needed attention. During the 4-day mission, 458 medical consultations and 169 gynecological exams were conducted. The team also vaccinated 92 girls against HPV. The club's impact extended further. They pledged to work with UNICEF to secure vaccines and explore funding for the HPV vaccination program.
