Feeding The Needy is a program of the Covington Rotary Club (Covington, Louisiana) designed to help feed needy families over the Christmas Holidays. Originally started by a local church in the late nineties, two members of the Covington Rotary Club resurrected the program in 2002 to ensure that children in the community had food the see them through the school holidays.
Feeding the Needy is a true community collaboration project- from the thousands of dollars donated to purchase food to the hundreds of volunteers who participate by packaging food boxes the two days prior to Christmas to the hundreds of volunteers on Christmas day that actually deliver the meals.
This project impacts everyone involved, from the Rotarians who organize it to the volunteers who participate to the needy families who receive a pre-cooked turkey with all of the trimmings
