Morocco High Atlas Irrigation Aqueduct

Morocco High Atlas Irrigation Aqueduct

Completed
Funded by Rotary Grant

Detailed description

We are working to improve the existing irrigation ditch that provides irrigation water to three Berber villages in the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. We are working in tandem with the Rotary Club of Marrakesh, the non-governmental organization Corps Africa-Morocco, and the Moroccan Ministry of Agriculture to carry out this project. The work is being done in the village of Ait Daoud, in the province of Tineghir, where San Carlos Rotarian Steve Carlson previously served in the Peace Corps. We are raising funds through a variety of channels, including the Reubens for Rotary party at Steve's house. Other clubs in the area are contributing their DDF funds. We are hoping to orgnanize a trip to Morocco once the project is formally underway. We are in the process now of applying for a Rotary Global Grant to fund the initiative.
