Detailed description

The event Khushiyon ki Diwali truly stands for the real meaning of the festival Deepavali. Diwali is a festival of disseminating love, affection, and care for mankind. We the rotaractors of RC M.L.Dahanukar went to one of the slum areas of Mumbai, Vileparle to donate clothes and food to underprivileged mothers and their children. Donations given to them turned out to be helpful and fruitful to enjoy the festival of lights with their beaming smiles and boundless happiness. Rotaractors also felt a sense of satisfaction within them as they reached out to the needy mothers and their children. The mothers along with their children were fed with food and the volunteers distributed the clothes. Every Year our Club organizes a donation drive in Diwali to spread lights and smiles in places of sheer darkness and poverty. Each one of us wants to feel special at festivals but few are the ones who are denied the blessing hence RCMLDC heroes always reach out needy and vanish sadness!

Community assessment: How the project team learned about the community’s needs

The community has people living and coming from different walks of life. Not everybody gets a chance to celebrate festivals in a grand manner. Our Club takes the responsibility of providing a few moments of happiness to underprivileged kids to celebrate Diwali. Hence we assessed those poverty-stricken families who do not get basic festive things to enjoy like festive food and good clothes to wear. Therefore, our club collected donations from various donors and escalated amongst the needy so that they could enjoy and have a wonderful Diwali.
