Detailed description
The Rotary club of Dasmarinas Cavite (RCDC), embarked yet another meaningful project – “Project Pakinggan Mo Year 4”. This project is a hearing test for newborn babies with 11 beneficiaries from indigent families. RCDC’s Rotary Community Corps (RCC) members were tasked to look for indigent beneficiaries from the community.
The hearing screening is a first and important step in helping understand if the baby may be deaf or hard of hearing. It is difficult to determine if a baby has hearing changes in the first months and years of life. With the newborn hearing screening, detection is possible.
According to experts, infants who are deaf or hard of hearing need the right support, care, and early intervention services to promote healthy development. If the hearing status is not identified, it may have negative effects on the baby's communication and language skills.
For 4 years now, RCDC sponsors indigent newborn babies for hearing screening.
