Satkhira district is situated in the southern part of Bangladesh near the Sundarbans and Bay of Bengal. It was affected by Aila devastation. There is an acute shortage of safe and sweet drinking water. The water is either saline or containing high level of arsenic. In and around the district head quarter. it is an arsenic prone area. it is difficult to find arsenic free water. RC Dhaka West decided to install a deep tube well for providing arsenic free water to the community. Batla, Labsha Union of Satkhira Sadar, is chosen the site of installing a arsenic free deep tube well. In this locality women usually fetch drinking from nearby arsenic free deep tube well and those tube wells are miles away from here. It is very difficult to find a place to sink a tube well from where arsenic free water will be supplied. For this, a local committee was formed. This committee, with the assistance of DPHE, could find a place to sink a tube well for arsenic free water. No arsenic in this well
