Description détaillée
Rotary club Ljubljana 25 raised financial funds for the purchase of equipment and refurbishing of the intensive care unit for prematurely born children in University Medical Centre Ljubljana. The abovementioned unit yearly tends to over 500 prematurely born children (last year more than 180 weighed less than 1.500 grams).
The unit was equipped insufficiently at the very beginning, twenty-eight years ago. Namely, the monitors, pumps and perfusion equipment for intravenous supply of nutrients as well as medicine are located at a joint console. This means that the units, where the prematurely born children are treated are not physically separated one from another. Consequently, this increases the risk of infections of the prematurely born children whose immune systems are extremely immature and undeveloped.
