Description détaillée
The Edible Pedal 100® is a charitable, recreational, yet challenging road bike ride that showcases Northern Nevada and features outstanding locally sourced food at the rest stops and post-ride barbecue. This is an organized ride, not a race, with ride stops every 11-17 miles. Culinary arts students from local high schools, bike mechanics, HAM radio operators and Rotarians staff each ride stop.
The ride has grown from 556 riders in 2011 to 956 in 2012 and over 1,000 in 2013. Over 30% of our riders are first timers at an organized ride.
The Edible Pedal 100® is more than just a fundraiser. It’s a community event that promotes healthy lifestyle choices through fitness and wholesome food. We involve numerous youth groups from the community as well as many local businesses. It’s an opportunity to mentor kids, partner with other community service groups like the Washoe ARES Ham radio operators, Urban Roots and Reno Bike Project. More than $50,000 will be donated to the community.
