Celebrate culture and history of Ciudad Sandino and promote municipal pride with hundreds of artists
Celebration of the 2nd annual festival of municipal pride for Ciudad Sandino, a city of 200,000, historically made up of refugees from natural disasters but with huge diversity of culture. The Pride Festival is part of a larger effort to emphasize the positive for Ciudad Sandino, which only appears in the national media in stories focusing on violence and crime. The Pride Festival brings together local artists - folklore and modern dancers, marching bands, musicians, craftspeople; with sports - baseball, soccer, karate; community organizations; and traditional cuisine. As part of the Festival there was a Traditional Cuisine Competition. The Festival is a chance to showcase the positive side of Ciudad Sandino as well as a chance for local folks to sell their wares, improving the local economy.
