Three rural public elementary schools with 340 students had very little playground equipment for their dirt yards. The Rotary Club of Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua got a local car dealership to donate used automobile tires and paid a local artist to make creative playground equipment: motorcycles, elephants, frogs, tractors, serpents, towers and chess tables. Together with students, parents and teachers, the Rotary Club installed and painted the equipment in bright colors. With a very small cash layout, a little bit of sweat and a lot of love, these playgrounds were transformed into cheerful oasis for the young students.
