Detailed description

The Luntiang Kapaligiran (Green Environment) is a flagship project of RC Pasay Maharlika in partnership with Green Space an organization involved in environmental services, particularly in food waste management. Chosen beneficiaries are scholars of ASHTEC who come from different provinces and live within the campus. This serves as their livelihood project through backyard gardening of vegetables and different crops using compost materials from the school canteen’s food waste. The scholars are given an initial one-month supply of Bokashi Bran used for effective fermentation and composting of food waste, garden waste and other related wastes which are normally thrown away and become source of the spread of bacteria/virus-causing diseases. Seedlings and other vegetable plants are also provided as initial livelihood inventories. Gardening tips are given and the produce are either to be sold of use for food. Proper food waste management is an integral part of the project.
