Monthly clinic providing low cost dental care to under-served children in Sonoma County, CA.
The project is a joint partnership between Santa Rosa Sunrise and Santa Rosa Junior using the facilities at SRJC for a once per month dental clinic to answer a need for low-cost dental care in Sonoma County. The clinic is staffed by local volunteers including dentists, hygienists, dental assistants and hygiene students, SRJC Roteract students and local Sunrise Rotarians. The clinic is open once per on a Sunday and is currently seeing over 50 patients each day of operation. Thus far, the clinic has not charged any fees to patients.
This project is an extension of SR Sunrise commitment to improving dental health. In 2005 we launched a dental care program for elementary students which is still operating today and bi-annually the club coordinates an international dental clinic which just completed a trip to Nicaragua in February 2012.
We anticipate the success of our latest clinic to grow and be a needed solution for dental care of children in Sonoma County.
