Learn more about Rotary's areas of focus

Detailed description

During the 2013/14 Year Clubs started to implement a £65,000 investment in the District, which covers Cumbria & Lancashire, UK. The project to bring much needed life saving equipment for use by first responders in our communities was match funded from our Rotary International Foundation and was made possible due to the generosity of Rotary Clubs across the District together with Rotary colleagues in Japan, India and South East Scotland. In times of need communities often turn to local first responders to help them out. Our Search & Rescue and Community First Responder teams are available 24/7. In early 2013 Kevin Walsh, who had been involved professionally in Flood Recovery works, decided that his Charity appeal during his year of office would be to provide much needed Defibrillators in our Communities, our Search & Rescue Teams with lightweight equipment and to help local people in looking after their own health by setting up Health Fairs (Melas).
