Detailed description

This program is paid for by the Camas Washougal Rotary Club and is made possible with the help of local organizations that make donations, provide special pricing or facilitate field trips to their businesses. Rotary District 5100 has also supplied generous grants to help subsidize these programs. The 8-week program has an immediate and lasting effect on the youth. Some do not wish to speak publicly at the beginning of the program, and by the end their self-esteem has soared. It builds confidence, friendships, and life skills. (Participation in Rotary is not a volunteer requirement and is a good way to recruit new members. Each week has a format and module that makes it easy to follow. The program runs about $2,000.)The strong, yet subtle lesson for fifth grade girls participating in the Camas Washougal Rotary Young Women in Action (YWIA) mentoring program is that, when we are comfortable with ourselves we become more accepting of others.
