Weltcafé Altenburg

Once a week a relaxed and pleasant place to meet for Germans and Refugees

Completed

Learn more about Rotary's areas of focus

Detailed description

As refugees are pouring into Germany, especially people from former East Germany have not had much contact with foreigners. In the Weltcafé both locals and refugees meet to chat, do things together and learn from each other over a cup of cheap tea. The place is run by local volunteers, Rotarian and Rotaracters and refugees. It is open once, hopefully next year twice a week and offers space for any kind of common initiative: someone teaches knitting, someone helps with applications for work, a lawyer and a social worker come by and we dance and sing at times. It is fun!
