Detailed description
The Haiti Reforestation Partnership is internationally recognized for sustainable reforestation in Haiti. They have planted over 14 million trees in the last 25 years, having a positive impact on water runoff, soil retention and soil fertility. We are working with CODEP, who employ local labor to grow and plant seedlings and work with local communities to support them. It takes about 5 years to develop a self-sustaining forest, and each tree costs $15 (2 for $25). So our club of 40 members sponsored 40 trees for $500. Other clubs, districts and Interact clubs are welcome to join this effort. Send contributions to Haiti Reforestation Partnership; PO Box 99165; Raleigh, NC 27624.
