Service Project: XMast Party for 160 kids incl. food, clothing, toys and books and games in Nov 2015
We had a record attendance of children from 7 different schools . 207 children and teachers arriving by busses and cars, descended on the venue situated on the banks of the Vaal River. Our club were ready to give them the time of their lives. Slip and slide, jumping castle, tug of war, volley ball, face painting, "shopping" for clothes (donations received) boat trips kept them busy for the day. All these activities led to hunger pains and the Rotarians were kept busy with dishing out ice cream, cool drinks, chips and apples. This was topped up with a midday meal of delicious rib burgers and many children came back for seconds. The arrival of Father Christmas by boat was their highlight of the day! They stormed up to him and after we restored the order we managed to hand out the presents. The presents were made up out of toys, soccer balls, sweets and books from the Rotary humanitarian centre. Judging from their happy faces and comments this was a day to be remembered for a long time.
