Detailed description
This project is carried in partnership with RC Ann Arbor, USA + RC Singapore and implemented by RC Chandragiri's RCC Bungamati. The project is about restoring and rehabilitating a public pond that has importance in irrigation, beauty, and socioeconomic, cultural and religious activities of the township of Bungamati. Apart from these, the pond is also used for cleaning and watering of livestock. The pond is a feeder pond to six other smal ponds nearby. The aim of the project is to preserve the pond which is becoming derelict after the 2015 earthquake on top of overuse, contamination, and non-maintenance. Furthermore, we also aim to rehabilitate the pond to a cleaner and aesthetically pleasant form. To that goal, following activities have finished: 1. Drainage, Excavation of existing pond, 2. Erection of retention wall and leakprofing, Backfiling 3. Water flow and drainage channel, 4. Refiling of pond, 5. Public toilet construction, 6. Beautification (end of April)
