Detailed description
CTE helps prepare students for productive careers and develop a skilled workforce. Productive careers are a challenge including dealing with the impact of technology which provides opportunities and challenge. A skilled workforce is especially for communities such as Bastrop Country which is partly rural with a significant percentage of students and families with challenges including economic. This CTE project helps address these challenges and opportunities.
This project builds upon “skilled trades” which can lead to products careers and business opportunities. This project includes computer aided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM) and computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines. The project includes “designing, building, using, and improving” CNC machines such as plasma cutter, laser cutter/engraver, and router which provide major improvements in productivity and precision for making useful and artistic projects. Norman Jones is the project lead for Bastrop Rotary Club.
