Fistula, Maternity & Child Health in Sierra LeoneWorking in partnership to improve Fistula, Maternity and Child Healthcare in Sierra Leone Proposed Seeks global grant partners
Detailed description Working with approved partner organisation, Freedom From Fistula, this project will support the delivery of free fistula, maternal & child healthcare services at Aberdeen Women's Centre, Freetown where more than 25,000 impoverished and vulnerable women and children are helped every year.
The project over 12 months will, for 120 women, alleviate the physical & psychological suffering from the stigmatisation of obstetric fistula, a child birth injury sustained after obstructed labour with no access to medical intervention. A post operative Rehabilitation Education & Empowerment Programme will equip patients with new skills and opportunities – restoring dignity & self-worth.
The project will ensure 1,500 babies can be delivered safely by experienced healthcare professionals and support the delivery of high quality paediatric care for 10,000 children up to 15 years.
The project will also support the training of 50 national healthcare staff to improve sustainable healthcare services. International, Maternal and child health Sierra Leone
