Detailed description

A delegation from the Rotary Club of Nevada City traveled to Baja, Mexico for 2016 Rotary at Work Day in partnership with the Los Barriles Cabo Este Rotary Club and Rotary clubs from Truckee, Fair Oaks, and West Sacramento. In the small communities around Los Barriles, young elementary and high school students live in albergues, or dormitories, during the week. The five Clubs worked together to scrub, scrape, and repaint the dorms at La Ribera and San Antonio Albergues. Bright, fresh colors were chosen by the students for their weekday home. We then partnered with Los Barriles Rotarians to deliver water filters to a nearby small village and participated training the residents in how to assemble, use, and maintain the filters. There are plans for these water filters to be distributed throughout District 4100 in order to greatly diminish childhood diseases and the health of rural residents.
