A global grant project #GG 1748377 valued at US$46,623 intended to improve the environmental and sanitation wellbeing of the community of Bakau through construction of a drainage system that would alleviate standoff water and breeding ground for mosquitoes whilst concomitantly addressing the challenges of flooding of compounds from runoff water and flooding during the rains. The drainage is also intended to overcome challenges of waste disposal within the community as existing dysfunctional gutters have become clogged with wastes collected by the runoff water and deposited within the community. The project involves the Community, the National Environmental Agency, the National Roads Authority, the Local Municipality, the Oasis Project (The Gambia), the Rotary Club of Milton Keynes Grand Union, and the Rotary Club of Fajara.
