A school run by the Government in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India required basic toilet facilities for students (boys and girls) numbering around 2000. Rotary Club of Madras East (RI Dist 3230) constructed the Girls Toilet Block for the school in a Matching Grant project along with Rotary Club of Utara Subang Jaya, Malaysia. RI District 3230 provided funds from DDF and Rotary International provided a handsome matching contribution. The Boys Toilet Block was constructed with funds provided by a Trust called Foundation for Vocational Training'. The total project cost was around US$ 83,000. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce school drop-outs, especially amongst girl students.
