110,00 Kids Against Hunger for NicaraguaRotarians and local citizens came together to pack 110,000 Kids Against Hunger meals for Nicaragua.
Detailed description 500 Rotarians and local citizens packed 110,000 highly nutritious Kids Against Hunger meals which were sent to Nicaragua for distribution to hungry children. Our club organized the event working with the Winnetka Community House (where we've met for 90 years) and The Volunteer Center. We raised the $32,000 required to fund the project from participant fees, sponsorship fees and contributions from our members. We partnered with Rotarian led Kids Against Hunger-Fox Valley, who provided the bulk food and packaging materials and transportation logistics. KAH-FV partners with World Missions Outreach and Verbro International who distribute these specially formulated and highly nutritious meals to children throughout this very impoverished country. This service event is one of the participants' favorite activities each year, and brings many youth, faith-based and employee groups together for a common goal while increasing awareness and appreciation of Rotary in our community.
