Solar Powered Water System - Zacamil II, SuchitotoThis project is a 100% solar powered, potable, community water system that routes water to each home
Detailed description The project provides 100% solar powered potable water distribution system for the community of Zacamil II. The system will channel water from one main natural water spring and will be collected in a main water capitation tank and from this tank, pumped via solar power up an incline to a main distribution tank above the village and through gravity force and solar powered chlorination, the water will be distributed to each and every home in the community. The community has struggled with access to water for more than 20 years. This project directly benefits each family and individual in the community. The community has full ownership of the project, and runs this as a public utility. Water is metered and families pay for access to water. These funds are used to offset costs of maintenance and water testing and is a critical component to the "TAP" project management process. This is the third project that utilizes this process. Rotarians visit project sites at least 2 times / year. Water, sanitation, and hygiene El Salvador
