Detailed description
For children in rural India, English is an important language and essential for a better future. Unfortunately, there is not always a school or sufficient teachers. The ILSE (I Learn to Speak English) Program uses an integrated approach to increase the level of English of both teachers and children. Goal of the program is to educate 5000 children and 100 teachers. Important component is the placement of 65 cabinets with computers in the outer walls of 27 government schools. With the help of innovative software, children can learn English by doing exercises and playing games. The computers are solar-powered and individual progress and statistics can be tracked.
This program is a collaboration of six Rotaryclubs in four countries.
The total costs of the 65 solarcomputers via Matching Grant 79704 are US$ 77.805.-
