Detailed description
For the poor and the orphan child in rural Kenya, Secondary School is often just a dream. The cost of one year of school is more than the average person makes per year. Having lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS, malaria or typhoid most likely dooms the child to a life of poverty. For only $600 per year this same child can attend school, obtain an education, and see a way forward in life. By selecting the most qualified children based on Kenyas nationwide examination, these motivated children will become productive citizens able to provide for their family. In general, these students are among the top three in their class as they are motivated to perform. The Sango Memorial Scholarship Fund is an endowment fund that will provide money to sponsor students school fees year after year. The Rotary Club of Barrington, located in Barrington, Illinois USA will act in cooperation with the Sango Association, a group of Kenyans in the Chicago area, to administer this fund. www.sangochicago.org
