Detailed description
RWWI is a fundraiser for children aged 10-14 who participate through schools, supported by local Rotary clubs to raise money and awareness for clean water and sanitation. Children walk 6 km (4 mi) with 6 litres (1.5 gal) of water in a backpack, and ask family & friends to sponsor. By participating they empathize with children in dev. countries that have to do this every day. Rotarians provide a guest lecture to children teaching them about the importance of water, the global water crisis, solutions, project information, and practical details about the sponsor walk.
More than 50 Rotary clubs in NL & UK organized RWWI on World Water Day, 22 March 2012. For 2013, UN Year for Water Cooperation, we invite Rotarians everywhere to join us. By participating we can help raise Rotary's image in the area of Water and Sanitation.
